After the United States, Mexico is the second nation in America with major investments in Costa Rica”. “There are more than 35 companies with Mexican capital operating in Costa Rica. We are sure that the creation of this airlift will benefit both nations, in addition to increasing their tourist and cultural exchange”, added the Aeromexico Executive.

On the other hand Hermes Navarro, chief of investments attraction of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT, for its Spanish initials) said that with the arrival of this new flight from Mexico, the air connectivity will increase not only with one of the main emitting markets such as Mexico, but with all the connections that Aeromexico has to the United States, Asia and Europe. Also, it will contribute with the tourism development of Guanacaste and nearby areas, a tangible example of the efforts made in the ICT airline attraction program. “We are very pleased with the official opening of this new route to Daniel Oduber International Airport. This is an achievement of the joint work of CATURGUA, CORIPORT and the ICT, promoting the tourist linkages of small and medium-sized companies, as well as Costa Rican families living on tourism”, concluded Navarro.

In the same way CORIPORT, Liberia International Airport concessionaire, affirmed that having this route is an opening door to one of the largest airports in Latin America, which will allow not only the visit of Mexicans, but also increase connections with several additional destinations.

“We are pleased to strengthen ties with Mexico, we are sure that the tourists visiting us will get the best impression of Guanacaste. We continue with the attracting flights work and this is a good time to celebrate that we continue to grow”, said César Jaramillo, General Manager of CORIPORT.

In the last decade, visitation from Mexico increased considerably. At the end of 2017, a visit of more than 100 thousand Mexicans was reported, which shows the interest of this market in knowing our tourist offer. As of August 2018, 69,000 Mexicans were registered, a figure that will possibly increase with the opening of this connection. According to studies from the ICT, more than 53% of Mexican tourists decide to visit Costa Rica. They like activities such as enjoying sun and sand, observing flora and fauna, approaching local gastronomy, visiting volcanoes, among others, precisely activities that it’s possible to enjoy in Guanacaste.

With this, Aeromexico not only strengthens its international connectivity network, but also its presence in Central America. As well, it reinforces their commitment to offer customers more and better options with a quality product.
